In central Fort Lauderdale, A beautiful but small anchorage, just north of the Port Everglades Inlet. The tops decks of the cruise ships can be seen over the roofs of the houses when facing south. It is surrounded by mansions and yachts, mostly partially empty. Caution is needed as the channel getting into Lake Sylvia has some shoaling. It is recommended to stay to the east side of the channel.

Boat Launch/Police Boat House on SE 15th street canal has bathrooms (locked), garbage cans, and water spigots.

Fire Department boat house is north east of Lake Sylvia has an empty grass lot west of the department that has a piling dock. This could be a spot to take a dog to go to the bathroom if you can lift them. Careful with the sharp oysters on the pilings.

Southport Raw Bar is a great restaurant, bar, and dock down the 17th street canal, at the western most end. The building is shared with Brownies scuba dive shop. They charge $10 to dock your dingy in their south slip for they day. Easy walk to Publix (groceries), mail service shop, uber drop off/pickup, laundromat

The Fort Lauderdale Police boat will stop by and introduce themselves the next day after you arrive. They are friendly and will educate you that there is a 30 day limit in 6 month period. I understand from locals that the judge allows folx to stay longer under circumstances.

It can get quiet and windless at night and the bugs can get annoying. The police and fire sirens from land can be wall-to-wall at times.

Water is clear but not blue. You can see down a few feet and is green, the water doesn’t fully recycle.

The anchorage cab get busy on the weekend with day charters and boats waiting for a weather window. There is a “perimeter” of red buoys setup by a local waterskiing group. They are not boundary markers for the anchorage.
