electric sailing yacht

Peanut Island has beautiful and clear water! Manatees, turtles, dolphins all call this place home. Easy access to shore (details below), easy anchoring, and good protection. The current changes twice a day causing 360 degree rotations on anchor.
Mooring balls are available from a local named Zach.

No Wake Zone November 15- May 30 each year for manatees.

The weekends are very busy with recreational boaters racing from one end of the lagoon to the other, which causes rocking and rolling. The sailing club has daily clinics with their youth sail lessons, so expect throngs of dinghy sailboats to go sailing by. The club hosts regattas too, so sometimes there are a lot of them. Despite all of the anchored boats, it is not a cruiser friendly community.

Jim Berry Park, Riviera Beach has a short-term (says 10 min) dock. You can walk to Walgreens, Publix, Coin Laundry, Boat Owner Warehouse, Outboard Sales, Scuba shop. Had Target deliver provisions here while I waited. Very busy on the weekend, would not recommend negotiating all the boaters using the ramp and launch.

Gettler Park south of Palm Beach Sailing Club has a beach you can anchor your dinghy and walk to local markets for propane or provisions. There is a coin laundry and bank as well. I have used the office building and apartment building to the south to have Dominos and Target deliveries.

Downtown West Palm Beach via tender and under the Flagler Memorial Bridge and utilize their free dinghy dock to access great restaurants, arts & entertainment, transit to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando. No overnight at dinghy dock.

Peanut Island has bathrooms, outside showers, 1.25 mi walk path, and beautiful beaches. The ferries run 9 am to 5:30 PM- visit the island outside of these hours to have the whole beach to yourself. There are no stores or restaurants on Peanut Island.

Sailfish Marina has a great breakfast buffet for $30 seven days a week! I highly recommend it. They also have decent menu in the tiki bar, but their restaurant can be a little pricey. Good ship store and friendliest place to get gas. The Sailfish Yacht Club is different and only available to residents of Palm Beach- not West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach Sailing Club does allow use of their dinghy dock and amenities (restaurant, bar, shower, bathroom, water, shore access) for $35 per day as a “Visiting Yachtsman”. I would only recommend if a last resort. The club is not welcoming or friendly to cruisers and dinghy’s have been lost, stolen, and damaged while on their property.
